Many people have speculated the iPad 2 release to be during Christmas time. I personally believe it would come out sometime from January to April 2011. Why you might ask? Well there are several reasons to this idea.

-It was announced during that time period

-Most importantly Steve Jobs just loves being ahead of the competition.

The iPad was originally announced on January 27th, 2010 and released on April 3rd, 2010. Apple has been always fond of updating around the same time of the year the older model was originally released, so we can already assume iPad 2s release date will be around that time of the year. Why wouldnt Apple continue its regular routine with the iPad 2 release?

Another reason to believe its release is near is the features its lacking that its brothers the iPod touch and iPhone boast. A camera and Face-time. Currently a lot of consumers are wary about buying the iPad 2 because of the fact, the camera and Face-time features might be added in the next generation. With a camera attached to the iPad you could personalize it even further. It would be like taking your laptop, Mp3 player, and Digital camera forming an unbeatable device or other wise known as an iPad 2. Adding Face-time would create a much more personal touch to the iPad. Ive always been fond of video calls and web-caming, the ability to do that on-the-go sounds splendid.

Yes, thats right. The iPad 2 commercial has already been shot in New York. I doubt Apple would film a commercial for a product that isnt even near release yet. The shots had used older models of the iPad that would be swapped out with newer ones post-production. We can assume that the iPad 2 will be the same size as the first generation.

Finally, the reason Apple itself is probably making an iPad 2 release in that time period is for competition. Steve jobs would love to gloat about finishing production of a second model, while all his competitors havent even completely released a first. This would give consumers a second thought on which tablet to buy. The one that is most up to date, or a first generation?

That concludes my thoughts on the iPad 2 release, we can summarize what you can expect Is;

I must admit that I’d be absolutely lost without the growing number of desktop and laptop computers, printers, digital cameras and all the other assorted electronic equipment in my house and home office.

I know I once got along without all this gear, but that was back in the olden days, in the last millennium. Today I absolutely depend on it. What this means is that I buy a lot of stuff, and I have formed some definite opinions about where I do my shopping and what places I avoid like the plague.

I hate to say it, but #1 on my list of places to avoid are the big electronics chain stores. They are certainly convenient and their prices are usually in the ballpark.

And all their glossy brochures have lured me more than once when I quickly needed some RAM, a disk, or a new inkjet printer.

Problem is that their sales people are embarrassingly clueless and often only interested in selling extended service contracts. No thank you.

When I build a new desktop computer I occasionally buy the parts from a local electronics superstore. Those places are a geek’s paradise, or they could be if it weren’t for a couple of really annoying deal breakers.

First, half of the boards don’t work after I bring them home. And second, I absolutely refuse to buy things that are only a good deal after a mail-in rebate or two. I’ve been burned too many times with rebates. No more.

Office supply stores are stocking more and more electronic equipment. So when I go buy a ream of paper or some other small stuff I often end up looking at their laptops and digital cameras.

And once I even bought a notebook computer there, something that I later regretted as there was, of course, no service or support. I actually like the office supply stores and have no problem buying things like laser printer cartridges there, but that’s about it for computer stuff.

Another bad practice that’s taking over is luring customers with low prices, make them wade through several order screens, and then break the bad news, like some gargantuan shipping charge or that, sadly, the item is not in stock.

Do that to me once and I won’t be back.

So where do I get most of my electronics gear? Online.

I love being able to browse online stores at my leisure, without any sales pressure and usually with all the information I need. I like neat, clean just-the-facts stores that specialize in the kind of gear I want.

With it’s array of zip drives back in the mid 90s, Iomega was the kind of media storage. then along came CD burner and larger hard drives and suddently, and zip drives were the 21st century equivalent of 8 Track tape players. soon, the name Iomega was equated with “remember when.” Not that they died out. They just went under the radar, designing a smooth array of portable hard drives and other options. But with the globe changing again and moving to the cloud, Iomega is changing with it, offering a cool new media device that marries the Boxee streaming software program with the iPhone.

Iomega TV with Dlink’s Boxee will offer not only streaming of iptv over the internet, but also giving to 1 and 2TB storage options for saving of personal media. known as a “hub,” Iomega TV will also interface with the iPod/iPhone through it’s Super Hero backup interface, and have a DLNA media server running as well.

Based on the Intel Atom CE4100 processor, Iomega TV will assistance 1080p HD video, work on each WiFi and ethernet, and have the signature Boxee keyboard remote control. The SuperHero iPod interface will backup contacts and photos to an SDHC card and offer a line-out audio. But don’t appear for it to backup apps or films and music just yet – that’s up to Apple.

AVID photographer Azlan Abdul Samad, a senior manager at Bank Islam, says technology has changed the digital photography landscape in more methods than one can imagine.

“I’ve seen new technologies emerge in just one year and I expect more this year. for example, the roll out of full high-definition video capturing capability in many new dSLRs and micro-third cameras in 2010 has taken digital photography to a new level. a couple of years ago, in order to shoot high definition video, one had to have a HD camcorder, but these days all can be carried out with digital cameras.”

Besides that, he says producing professional-high quality pictures can now be carried out even by amateurs. the use of translucent mirror technology in Sony’s a33 and a55 cameras and greater megapixel sensors have given photographers a new edge, something not feasible 5 years ago, even with the most costly dSLRs, he adds.

“for 2011, I expect better technology that will enable amateurs and semi-pros to take professional high quality photos.

“I’m looking forward to better versions of the a33 and a55 series. these new translucent mirror technology can give users up to 10 frames per second of burst rate in just a small camera body. besides that, new cameras, especially in the dSLR category, are expected to have better ISO performance, double translucent mirrors and micro adjustment of auto focus points. these will be among the hot functions of 2011.”

Eyeing more audio gadgets

BASKING in the success of Kekanda Adinda, singer Atilia plans to acquire more audio gadgets this year. She’s currently eyeing studio- high quality microphones.

“I would like to have some studio microphones such as the Telefunken u-47 large diaphgram tube condensor mic and the wireless Neumann.”
